The History of Faith Community Church
Faith Community Church was started in 1990 by Pastor Jeff Williams from Rockford IL. Pastor Jeff was serving faithfully at Faith Center in Rockford under Pastor Don Lyon for years. God put it in Pastor Jeffs heart to go to Janesville and start a church to reach out to "Church Charlie and Church Charlotte". With Pastor Lyons support and blessing Pastor Jeff started Faith Community Church in 1990. "When we started we had nothing but a vision: no people, no equipment, and no place to meet. Just a vision and the Lord and that was enough." said Pastor Jeff.
The first few years the small group met at the Janesville Motor Lodge (Now the Best Western in Janesville). As the church grew they used larger and larger rented facilities like Rock County Christian School and Woodland Christian School for Sunday services. In 1991 the church purchased property on Lucerne Drive (where the church building now stands near I-90). In 1994 Pastor Jeff added an associate Pastor to staff and in 1996 a Children's Minister came on board.
In 1998 the people of Faith Community Church (numbering 180 strong) celebrated their first service in their new church building on Lucerne Drive in Janesville, WI. The church construction was a building effort that was accomplished by the hands and sacrifice of many of the faithful members and leaders in the church at that time.
A Youth Minister and Worship leader were added to staff in 2001 and the first of many missionaries were sent out from the church body to cross-cultural missions.
The church continued to grow and expanded once again in 2003 with new office, classroom, and children's area. There was a growing attendance to church bible study classes and children's ministries, so the 300 church members worked together to make room for more children and adults. The church body also expanded their horizons into missions by leading the first of many short term missions trips.
In 2008 Faith Community Church expanded again to make room for the 700 adults, youth, and children in our fellowship.
