How Can I Serve on the Missions Team?

1. Missionary Care:  be in contact with our supported missionaries so we are aware of their personal and ministry needs.
   1. Prayer Team: collects monthly prayer updates, distributes prayer requests, organizes prayer for the missionaries' behalf.
   2. Communication Team: conveys needed information to our missionaries or obtains needed information from them.
   3. Hospitality Team: organizes ways to welcome our visiting missionaries and to care for their needs while on home assignment.  Sends birthday cards to our missionaries.
      
2. Church Promotion:  promote broad missions awareness, involvement and commitment in the church.
   1. Events Team: annual potluck/conference, Int'l Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, prayer gatherings
   2. Advertising Team: bulletin board, bulletin inserts/announcements, missions website
   3. Education Team: provides and promotes missions classes, regional conferences, seminars for the team and the church body. Researches missions information. Mentors potential missionaries within the church.
   4. Vision Team: getting other ministries participating in missions, like small groups, the men's group and women's group.
   5. Teen Missions:  promotes missions to the youth of the church and coordinates their participation with our missions efforts.
      
3. Short-term Missions:  plan and organize short-term missions projects for the church body.
   1. Preparation Team: receives applications, leads team preparation meetings, ensures each short-term team is spiritually, mentally, emotionally and socially prepared for the trip. Organizes post-trip debriefing and sharing sessions.
   2. Field Contact Team: liaison between the short-term team and the field leader or host. Gets needed information for preparation, vision, restrictions and logistics.
   3. Short-term Finance Team: receives and manages incoming and outgoing expenses for the trip, working closely with the church treasurer.
   4. Fundraiser Team: plans, promotes and recruits helpers for trip fundraisers
      
4. Administration:  attends to the operational and leadership needs of the missions team.
   1. Finance Team: liaison between the team, the church board and the church treasurer; provides monthly financial updates to the team.
   2. Leadership Team: plans and moderates monthly meetings, assists leaders with the vision, formation and leadership of their teams.
   3. Churches Together for Missions Team: builds fellowship, communication and shared resources among area churches with similar missions vision.
